The Canon EOS 500D is a powerful 15 mp DSLR camera. DSLR stands for Digital Single Lense which means the camera is using a mirror and prism technology to show what the image is going to look like after capture. The EOS 500d has been given many names depending on which country you live in. Its called EK in the Netherlands. Most U.S photpgraphers and consumers call it OES Rebel T1i and th best name comes from Japan where is it famously known as EOS Kiss X3.
When it comes to DSLR, you can trust Canon to come with something never seen before. Canon did not disappoint when it released this marvelous piece of work. The EOS 500D was the first to come with movie mode feature which made everyone in the photography business talking. As the result of this functionality, the 500D was used in many known television series and movies. There was sitcom in South Africa that was filmed with this camera and as expected, the quality was no different.
Another new feature was its full and powerful 1080p video recording functionality. The functionality was capable of recording at the rate of more 18 frames per second. One of its best feature was the DGIC 4, for those who might be lost, DIGIC is an image processor used in most digital cameras especially Canon. This functionality makes the camera faster when capturing and storing images, as with other older deigns, you don’t have to wait another 15 seconds to wait for processing.
Coming to media storage, there are two types of media storage, CampactFlash and SDHC (secure Digital High Capacity). The EOS 500D was the second if not third to use the SDHC technology. Before I mention all other features, let say quickly that the camera use the following techlogy to save its video files. MOV, PCM and MPEG-4.
Features:
Highlight tone priority
76 mm LCD
Live mode used for viewing
DIGIC 4 processor
CMOS sensor
It is flesh ready and syncs information very quickly
JPEG and RAW simultaneous recording
It uses HDMI and USB 2.0 interfaces
Most people regard the EOS 500D as the entry level camera that is mostly used by armatures and school children. For those who feel they no longer experimenting and want to upgrade, consider using Panasonic DMC-GHI or Nikon D5000.
